The Belligerante are members of Portland, Oregon's only all-Schwinn bike gang. Founded in 1996 the gang has around 30 members, some old and some new, who share a love for old Schwinns, drinking in the Driveway, and rolling out to events around the city. We can be seen in local parades, ethnic fests, brew fests, bike-related events, and here and there around town. You'll start to recognize the red jerseys, the tall bars, and the belligerent riders. The Belligerante are big believers in bike riding and everything that this encompasses, and always encourage people to do the same. We especially enjoy other groups of people who organize around this theme, regardless of particular style. That being said, the question of whose style is better or more relevant, is less important than the act of representing. So, to all the awesome bike gangs in Portland: Despite the macho posturing, the Belligerante would encourage a stop at the club house and if mean words are exchanged, keep in mind that members sometimes shoot from the hip and that there is always a soft spot in our hearts for fellow cyclists. The driveway is open from 4-10pm on most sunny days.
